Diggers Rest is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Diggers Rest, on the Melbourne - Bendigo railway line. Diggers Rest station is staffed part time, and is in Metlink Zone 2, being served by Sunbury Line services.

Diggers Rest is located at the southern end of the Old Calder Highway level crossing, which provides station access.

The station consists of two side platforms; Platform 1 has a large brick building with an enclosed waiting area and ticket facilities, while platform 2 has a small steel shelter. A large Metcard vending machine is located outside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small Metcard vending machine is located on platform 2. A signal box is located on platform 1 at the Bendigo end of the station.

History

Diggers Rest station opened on 2 October 1859 with the line, being the terminus until the line was extended to Woodend in 1861. A small goods shed and siding were provided at this time. Interlocked gates were provided at Old Calder Highway in 1928, and were replaced with boom barriers in 1982. The goods siding was removed in 1989 and the remaining crossover was removed in 1992.
